"STRENGTH is a child fighting cancer with a smile on their face." - Anonymous

Connect123 -

Our 9 Ohio University students spent their Friday morning amongst the little superheroes at Tygerberg Children’s Hospital.

The brave little ones created colourful dream catchers with the help of the students. The children were very eager to play with the colourful beads, shiny crystal stickers and soft feathers. These dream catchers were then hung next to their beds and are now a reminder of the beautiful and fun morning they shared with new friends. Also a reminder that they are not facing this journey alone.

The students were whole heartedly involved and their care was palpable.
One of the children "face" painted a student from top to bottom! Hands, arms and her whole face - a colouring-in project! She was completely covered in paint and the kid was grinning from ear to ear.

Another student mentioned how a little girl warmed up to her the more the dreamcatcher evolved. Towards the end they were having a lively conversation.

Some mothers, whose children were too weak to join in on the activity, created dreamcatchers for their children, This gave them time to focus on something other than the harsh reality they are facing. Some of the moms travel vast distances to be able to spend as much time as possible with their child every day.

Anthea, our TLC Programme super-woman shared so much of her knowledge and answered all of our questions. Thank you for being the shining force that you are!

Each child is fighting cancer with a brave smile on their face - a true expression of strength.
