The Sistahood Club

Birthday Bash! Connect Day

1 American Volunteer with a birthday.
15 teenage girls of the Sistahood Club in Imizamo Yethu
32 children from Ikhaya Lethemba
15 Sisanda Staff and adult volunteers.

had a super-duper Birthday Bash Connect Day, giving each other memories we won't forget!

After picking up 48 children and teenage volunteers from Imizamo Yethu (thank you for the transport HCI Foundation), we enjoyed a yummy pizza lunch in Arderne Gardens (hip hip hooray Butler's Pizza), devoured delicious birthday cupcakes (made fresh from Silwood School of Cookery - cheers to this lovely donation!), and went to the adjacent Claremont Congregational Church Hall (thank you once more Claremont Congregational Church for this stunning venue!) to have a real girlie birthday party! We played Musical Chairs, crafted beaded bracelets, played bowling, had our fingernails done, challenged our brains with puzzles and went for a photoshoot (Bianca Blair, you are the best!). As a THANK YOU to our newest Sisanda FunDaytion Volunteer (and fund-raiser) Constance Willams (actually Thornton!) from America, each child prepared a little handmade art-puzzle-piece, which - once assembled - turned into this stunning shape of Africa! Another reminder that “Together we are great”! At this moment someone broke into singing “Nkosi sikelel' iafrika”. What happy memories were made ...

Without our loyal supporters, this day wouldn't have been as special as it turned out to be: thank you Sisanda Volunteers for your amazing energy - and also to Truworths Fashion for the continuous financial support and the fabulous T-Shirts!
