Sisanda Connect #2.1
After spending a relationship-building Connect Day together in February, the teenage volunteers from Good Hope Seminary Girls High School and "their children" from Vanguard Primary School went on an exciting "Adventure Day" together - literally exploring the beauty of Cape Town! Together we went around a Mini Peninsula Tour on the "Hop on Hop off" bus - from the magical Waterfront through a bustling Cape Town City Center, via tranquil Kirstenbosch to forest-y Constantia Nek, past lively Imizamo Yethu and the rustic Hout Bay Harbour, before going back to Cape Town via the most scenic drive along the sun-dipped and sparkling Atlantic ocean, past sleepy Llandadno, palmtree-lined Camps Bay, exclusive Clifton and arty Seapoint. None of the participants had ever done a tour like this before! Add to this the heightened position from the upstairs part of the topless bus, the airflow playing "merry-go-round" with our hair - and you can imagine the excitement and fun we had whilst learning all about the Cape Peninsula and our beautiful Mother City!
Halfway through this tour, we made an adventurous stop at Constantia Nek, hiking through the woods of Table Mountain National Park, exercising our legs walking over sticks and stones, looking out for various typical items to be found around a forest. Hungry and happy, the post-hike picnic was enjoyed by all!
A big THANK YOU to everyone involved - for making this event as special as it turned out to be! To Woolworths for funding this day, to City-Sightseeing for their discounted tickets, to Knead for a delicious lunch, to Black Wagon for classy transport to and from the meeting point and to all our kids and volunteers ... for simply being who you are!
