Taking Science to a New Dimension

The Sisanda FunDaytion team had a great day out with the Al Noor kids and Spatial Dimension volunteers! After a morning getting to know each other with energizing activities and games, soccer, netball and lots of songs we set out with a need to be inspired about Science and education. The look on the kids faces said it all as they walked up the stairs to the Science Centre, Wow! With so much to do and so much to learn the volunteers and the children went wild. We had a tour of the centre, time up at the camera obscura, a science show, a steam turbine workshop, lots of free time and a science quest to complete along the way. The staff at the Science Centre were so helpful and the Science Quest was a huge success. We saw our kids working so hard to find these answers and soaking up knowledge as they did so. Lots of smiles when they were given prizes afterwards for all their effort (and creative answers too :) ). With rumbling tummies we headed to the Spur for a delicious meal with the friendly staff followed by an ice cream and their own little Spur tog bag! With full heads, full tummies and full hands we said our goodbyes and wrapped up the day. The kids had this to say about their day: 'When can we go again?' 'Wow, I love science!' 'What an adventure' and my favourite, 'I'm going to do so many experiments now! I'll know the answer to everything when I'm done!'

Thank you to all the volunteers and the sponsors who made this day possible! Thanks to Spatial Dimension, Cape Town Science Centre, Spur Foundation, Truworths and HCI
