Fun in the Sun!
This Fun Day proved to be a very interesting one! Building up to the day, we were all checking the weather, crossing fingers that the rain that was predicted, would hold out long enough for us to have some fun in the sun! Luckily, it did and even though the sun never made an appearance, the smiles beaming from the children were enough to brighten anyone's day!
After rounding up our volunteers, we headed off to Phumlani Clinic to meet the children from Yabonga who would be joining us on the day. At first, they were nowhere in sight but then one by one, children were running down the street with packed bags and lots of excitement! They were an amazing group of children who embraced the day with such enthusiasm that it was contagious.
When we arrived at Fish Hoek Beach, no sooner had we touched the sand and children were already running off and diving into the cool sea water - nothing could stop them! Our sponsor for the day, Melody, from Catrobatz Kidz joined us at the beach and she quickly started up a fun game of bat and ball with some of the kids.
But nothing can last forever and as we started some beach games, the rain decided it had held out for long enough! It was a mad scramble to get dressed and run to the bus, but our efforts were soon rewarded when we arrived at the Golden River Spur. Sean and Mercia, along with their amazing team, treated us like royalty and it was a wonderful way to relax and soak in the day (and get dry!)
Thank you to our volunteers for joining us on the day and bringing your energy and warmth, adding to a memorable experience!
A special thank you to all our sponsors for supporting us and allowing us to make a difference: Spur Foundation, HCI Foundation, Truworths and National Lottery Commission.
