World of Birds Hout Bay

Izandla Zethemba

Hout Bay Birds and Beach Day

On Saturday 28th Feb Truworths treated 39 children from Izandla Zethemba to join us for a fantastic day of birds and beach in the beautiful Hout Bay. We collected the children in Manenberg in our Golden Arrow bus before heading to Town to collect our Truworths volunteers. The bus then took a scenic route via Sea Point where the children were mesmerized by the breath-taking views of the coast line.
On arrival at the World of Birds we paired the volunteers with the children and they set off at their own time and pace to view the many different species. After a snack between birds, trees and tortoises we left for the beach. As always the beach offered a lot of fun and entertainment, our energetic activity leaders also planned some great games for everyone.
It was a very busy and great day out and I would like to thank the volunteers for their amazing effort and enthusiasm and just general warmth towards the lovely children.
Also thank you to World of Birds for offering us discount on the tickets, to Fuji Film in Hout Bay for developing our photos for everyone to take away as a memory and to our Activity Leaders for their incredible help on the day.
Thank you to our main sponsors Spur Foundation, HCI/Golden Arrow, Truworths and the National Lottery Board for your support towards all our Fun Days, Sisanda is truly grateful for everything you do for us!
