Move with Madiba

Sisanda FunDaytion along with Izandla Zethemba and NPS celebrated an AMAZING and exciting Mandela Day on Saturday 19th July. We all arrived at the venue in town, thanks to HCI, just after 9am and the festivities started. Our talented Activity Leaders got the teenagers and volunteers into a great team spirit with energizers, games and singing. Once everyone was on the Mandela vibe we moved to the stations where our theme of “Giving of Yourself” was encouraged. The teenagers made sandwiches and filled two boxes which were then delivered to a local orphanage. They also had to bring out their creative talents with origami, pot plant making and an art corner.
Once everyone had used up all their energy we headed to Santa Ana Spur to full up the tummies with burgers and chips. On return to the hall we were met by five upbeat and fantastic Hip Hop dancers. They taught the teenagers and volunteers a funky routine which were all presented on stage at the end. The day ended on a uplifting note and the teenagers left feeling very inspired and touched after celebrating Madiba.

Thank you to NPS for making this day happen and for all your friendly and enthusiastic volunteers, you were all great role models.

… And thank you to everyone who was kind enough to donate/help out towards such a successful day - Pick n Pay, Spar, Engen Ladies Mile, Little Orchard, Fiona for teaching the kids origami, Katheryn Falcon and her team of dancers and girls from Wynberg Girls High School.

There were great comments and feedback about the day…
“ It’s all about love and peace, we don’t volunteer to be seen we do it for love and the IZ kids are all such wonderful kids”
“Thanks to everyone for giving their time, we very much enjoyed the day especially the food”

A special thanks to all our wonderful sponsors, the day is that much better having these partners involved: HCI, Truworths and Spur
