Really Wild!

Saturday was wild!
Did you know that the cheetah is the fastest land animal and can reach a top speed of 113km/h?

Well, now you do. We learnt so many wild and wonderful facts about this species at the Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West. Our dynamic volunteers and Sisanda team arrived early Saturday morning at Baphumelele Childrens Home, in Khayelitsha. After a warm welcome, the 40 children who had been paired up with their volunteers climbed onto the Golden Arrow bus and started singing as soon as the wheels of the bus went round and round.

The bus was filled with laughter and colour as the kids were wearing their Sisanda T-shirts sponsored by Truworths. Upon our arrival at the Cheetah Outreach Reserve, Mary, our lovely field guide and educator gave us an insightful presentation about the incredible cheetah species.

We explored the great outdoors and saw the real deal...
A cheetah up close and personal.

Some of the kids were given a once in a life-time experience to be able to touch this majestic cat. The volunteers and the children went on a little adventure and made discoveries, such as spotting a naughty meerkat. Other animals included servals, tortoises, jackals and the bat-eared fox.

To top things off we went to the "Tallahassee Spur" in Somerset West. It was delicious and as always we felt very cared for. The children were full of smiles and very appreciative and looked very cute with their Spur themed paper crowns. A very BIG thank you to the Spur Foundation.

Also many many thanks to the HCI Foundation and Golden Arrow - our golden heroes, for making such an event possible. Without your wheels we would not be able to get to and from our destinations.

As always a very special thank you to the National Lottery Commission for your support. Your generosity allows for memorable days such as these to happen.

Nathan Lunda - thank you for the beautiful and touching photographs.

To our amaaaazing volunteers "THANK YOU" for always going the extra mile.
