V&A Waterfront

Sail the Seas with Sisanda FunDaytion

On Saturday 26 October, we picked up a group of eager young pirates from Orphancare's Westlake community and had a fantastic time playing games, singing songs and practicing our pirate skills in the Westlake United Church Hall. Afterwards we headed off to the V&A Waterfront to Sail the Seas with Sisanda FunDaytion aboard Tommy the Tugboat and to take a spin on Cape Town's Big Wheel. We enjoyed Winston entertaining and educating us about the Cape of Good Hope and also, the Waterfront and the magical bird's eye view on the Big Wheel. The beautiful surroundings were awesome! It also added to the day that it happened to be the most beautiful summer-y day and because of this, we were able to watch an airshow, see the boats in the harbor and even catch glimpses of gypsies who were performing in the amphitheater. We didn't find treasure out at sea, but we certainly found a delicious lunch with friendly service at the Santa Ana Spur. Our pudding was a real treat thanks to Michael Kirton, our friend at Gartner, who had donated the a Treasure Chest cake complete with pirate figurines, a mermaid and overflowing with chocolate coins, candy gems and other pretty embellishments made by Kim from Gimmecupcakes!

A very BIG thank you to our sponsors for the day: Spur, HCI, Mark Farrelly, Ronel Van Dijk, Michael Kirton & the Westlake United Church. We appreciate your role in making this day a FUN-BELIEVABLE success!
