Fun Days and Community Playdates with Sisanda FunDaytion
We're thrilled to share the fun and magic we've been spreading around Cape Town. Our mission is to create an abundance of enriched play experiences for children, and recently, we've hosted a series of exciting events that have made a real difference.
In the past few weeks, we've had two fantastic Fun Day outings and two heartwarming Community Playdates, reaching a total of 297 children. Each event was filled with joy, learning, and endless fun. We also completed our Play@Home programme, bringing the magic of play directly to children’s homes.
Making a Difference Through Play
March: We kicked off with a Right to Play Fun Day in Simon’s Town, where children enjoyed mini-golf, explored the scratch patch, and celebrated on Fish Hoek Beach with pizza and cupcakes. The day was a hit, filled with learning and new friendships.
April: Our Carnival at St. Joseph’s Hospital brought smiles to 66 children in palliative care, along with their caregivers and hospital staff. Activities like cupcake making, seedling planting, and face-painting made the day truly special.
May: We teamed up with SHAWCO for a Community PlayDate at Khanyisa Community Church Hall. Children and families enjoyed crafts, storytelling, and games, creating a joyful atmosphere that eased clinic visits and brought the community closer together.
June: Our Curious Kiddos Fun Day at Cape Town's Science Centre and Green Point Park was a blast! Forty-five Grade R children from Project Playground in Gugulethu explored science exhibits, played games, and enjoyed a picnic, fostering curiosity and social-emotional development.
Each event we host is about more than just fun—it's about building resilience, sparking curiosity, and teaching life skills. Play breaks down barriers, fosters unity, and creates lasting memories. We're grateful for the support of Wings of Support and all our volunteers who help make these experiences possible.
Achieving Impact through Community Playdates in partnership with Wings of Support
For these recent events, we collaborated with KLM’s Wings of Support to significantly impact the mental health and futures of South Africa’s children. Our partnership with Wings of Support has been instrumental in providing the aforementioned Enriched Play Experiences.
Both Sisanda FunDaytion and Wings of Support are dedicated to enhancing the lives of children through support and enrichment. Sisanda FunDaytion specialises in creating joyful, developmental play experiences that foster emotional and social growth, while Wings of Support, driven by KLM employees, focuses on providing education, care, and medical assistance to children in need. Together, we leverage our respective strengths to deliver comprehensive support that addresses both immediate and long-term needs, ensuring children not only receive essential care but also experience the joy and developmental benefits of play. This synergy allows us to make a profound and lasting impact on the mental health and overall well-being of children in South Africa. This collaboration underscores the power of community and partnership in creating positive, lasting change and we are grateful for the commitment and generosity.
